Quick guide Steps, example & tips
- Step 1
Choose your images and an accepted output format.
- Step 2
Set the maximum size in KB or MB. Allow dimension reduction only when smaller dimensions are acceptable.
- Step 3
Process, compare fine details and download the successful results.
For a strict under-200 KB rule, start with a 190 KB target to leave a little room. The result shows its actual size.
What should I check?
A small target may be impossible with your chosen dimensions. Review any Over size limit result before using it.
Good to know
A target is a limit to aim for, not a guaranteed result. JPG and WebP can use lower quality; PNG may need smaller dimensions. Enable dimension reduction if you need it, and inspect the final size.
Up to 20 JPG, PNG or WebP images, 20 MB each. Read the image guide or explore all tools.
Prepare smaller images for upload limits
Set a maximum file size instead of guessing a quality setting. Prepare photos for application forms, email attachments or other destinations that reject large files.
The achievable size depends on format, dimensions and image detail. JPG and WebP can reduce quality; PNG may need smaller dimensions. Review the output size and fine details before downloading.

How to use this tool
- Choose your images, output format and maximum size in KB or MB.
- Process and read the actual output sizes.
- Compare detail, then download files that meet your needs.
A practical example
For a form asking for strictly less than 200 KB, try a 190 KB target. WORDMIO uses decimal units: 190 KB is 190,000 bytes. If a result stays too large, consider smaller dimensions only when the destination allows them.
Before you finish
Meeting a size limit can reduce detail. PNG uses lossless encoding, so lowering a quality slider cannot make it behave like JPG. Check small text and fine edges.
Frequently asked questions
Can I compress an image under 200 KB?
Enter the target size and process the image. A slightly lower target leaves some room, but the result is not guaranteed. Check the actual output size and any warning.
Will compression reduce my image dimensions?
Only allow dimension reduction when smaller dimensions are acceptable. If the selected settings cannot reach the target, the tool reports the size issue.
Can I download a compressed batch?
Yes. Download individual results or a ZIP containing successful outputs. Review errors and size warnings for each image.
