Good to know

PNG preserves existing transparency, but converting a JPG does not remove its background or restore detail lost earlier. Photo-heavy PNG files can be larger than the original.

Up to 20 JPG, PNG or WebP images, 20 MB each. Read the image guide or explore all tools.

Export screenshots and graphics as PNG

PNG is useful for screenshots and graphics when you want lossless output encoding. Convert supported images and preserve transparency that is already present in the source.

The file size can increase, especially for photographs. Conversion changes the format; it does not repair detail that was lost before the image reached this tool.

Free to use. No sign-up required.

How to use this tool

  1. Select JPG or WebP images.
  2. Set smaller dimensions only if needed.
  3. Process and check the PNG’s size and appearance before downloading.

A practical example

A transparent WebP can retain its transparency as PNG. A JPG with a white background remains an image with a white background; conversion does not remove it.

Before you finish

PNG can be much larger than JPG for photographs. Its lossless encoding does not undo compression already present in your source.

Frequently asked questions

Will converting JPG to PNG remove its background?

No. The existing background remains. This converter is not a background-removal tool.

Why is my PNG larger than the original?

PNG uses lossless encoding. Detailed photographs can need more space than a compressed JPG or WebP version.

Can PNG preserve transparent areas?

Yes, when the original image already contains transparency. A source without transparency does not gain it simply by changing format.
