Estimates use your assumptions. Calculations use unrounded values; displayed figures are rounded.
HOW IT WORKS
A useful estimate starts with clear inputs.
- Step 1
Enter the vehicle price, your down payment and any trade-in value.
- Step 2
Add your sales tax rate, the loan interest rate and the number of months.
- Step 3
Calculate to see the monthly payment, the amount financed, total interest and the total cost of the vehicle.
At 0% interest and no sales tax, a 24,000 vehicle financed over 24 months with nothing down has a payment of 1,000 a month.
Calculation assumptions and limits
Sales tax is applied to the full vehicle price and added to the amount financed, less your down payment and trade-in. The interest rate is fixed and charged monthly at the annual rate divided by 12, with payments at the end of each month. Registration, title and dealer fees, add-ons, insurance and taxes that differ by location are excluded. Check the lender’s contract for the exact terms.
Can I use this with my local currency?
Yes. All inputs in one calculation must use the same currency. The currency selector changes number formatting and labels; it does not look up exchange rates or convert your amounts. Local loan rules and products may calculate costs differently.
Are my numbers saved?
No. Your inputs and results stay in this page’s memory. Reloading or leaving clears them. Download the CSV or print the result if you want a copy.

Work out the payment and the total cost of a car
Enter the vehicle price, your down payment and any trade-in value. Add your sales tax rate, the loan interest rate and the number of months to estimate the monthly payment and the amount you finance.
A lower monthly payment often comes from a longer loan, which usually raises the total interest. This calculator shows the total cost of the vehicle including sales tax and interest, so you can compare terms before you talk to a dealer.

Frequently asked questions
Is sales tax included in the loan?
In this calculator, yes. Sales tax is calculated on the full vehicle price and added to the amount financed, less your down payment and trade-in. Rules vary by location, so check yours.
Does it include fees and insurance?
No. Registration, title and dealer fees, add-ons and insurance are not included. Add them to the vehicle price if you want them reflected.
Should I choose the longest term?
A long term can lower the monthly payment but increases total interest and can leave you owing more than the car is worth for longer. Compare a few terms and see the total cost.
